Monica reached out to me for her new webshop, where she will be selling amazing Japanese design products.
In the initial phase, she expressed her specific interest in Kintsugi, also known as Kintsukuroi, which means ‘golden repair’ and is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise like shown in the picture below.
After a few days of thinking the idea of Kintsugi grew on me as well and I was convinced that this should be where the inspiration should come form. I personally really liked the color profile as it would fit the company and its values perfectly. All of these elements combined lead to the creation of the logo below. Monica loved the logo straight away, and even rewarded me with some extra gift cards for the cinema. That was a very much appreciated gesture!
